Spectators are allowed to attend this event. If you're going out in a boat to watch please keep a safe distance from the boats registered in the tournament. If you would rather sit on land the Brownings Rivers Edge Bar and Grill is the perfect place to do it!  All the info you need is in the section following this one.

Entertainment!

Our spectators are more than welcome to head next door and have a seat at the River's Edge Bar & Grill. Under the Edge is a beautiful shady spot to have a drink and listen to some music. If sun shine is the name of the game they also have a excellent deck with a gorgeous view of the Illinois river!

Human Footprint PBS

In America’s heartland, one invader is spreading through our rivers. Shane signs up for the annual Redneck Fishing Tournament and puts his body on the line to get a closer look at Asian carp. Carp were first brought to the U.S. to clean up our wastewater, but they had their own agenda. Now, we’re locked in a billion-dollar arms race to keep carp out of the Great Lakes. Chef Soowha Yu has another solution: “If you can’t beat ‘em, eat ‘em!” – bones and all.

Wild Travels

WILD TRAVELS is a TV series seen on PBS

There's a river in central Illinois, so saturated with Asian Carp that locals have devised an annual event aimed at severely thinning the population of this invasive species. We managed to jump aboard for one of the most hazardous fishing tournaments known to man.
